404 Fremont which was formerly Viv's Deli (a great place to eat) here in Bicknell I'm told is planning to reopen as a restaurant and laundromat according to a rumor I heard. If this is true I wish them well as a laundromat is really needed, and with plant workers maybe the restaurant too. J. Pan and L. Rosalez bought the property in October of last year. |

Indiana's IDEM announced Jan 25 that they are approving the permit for construction of this 2 Billion giant construction project. This was the last government hurdle and barring some trivial court injunctions construction should begin really soon. It will be a coal gasification plant producing a lot of electricity with minimal air pollution for the amount of power produced. It is said to be possibly the prototype for this type of electricity generation. If more power plants around the world would go to this type of power generation CO2 would be much reduced over possible use of the old style coal burning power plants and likely global warming would be slowed a lot. At least 2000 Construction workers are expected to be employed over a four year construction period and then a permanent force of 100 to operate the plant. Housing in the area will be in strong demand. Word to the wise, be sure to make your reservations in advance for the Bed and Breakfast and if you want to buy a house in the area don't put it off. The time to buy is now! |
