We had another disappointing attempt to have a contra dance Friday night and the only ones beside myself to attend were Ruthie and Charlie who drove 100 miles to get here. They also tend to Ruthies house in Linton so it was not a wasted trip but they did drive some distance and hoped to dance. We don't want our dance to fail and my fiancee from the Philippines is anxious to Contra dance with us when she arrives this summer. Lets don't disappoint her and let's get our numbers back up to where we want them with more numbers of dancers. It is really true with this that 'the more the merrier' is accurate.
To those of you who have been here but were disappointed with a small turnout, we really want you back and since we need to start thinking 'self promotion' see if we can invite more folks who might like some good dancing and for FREE! Ruthie suggests we have 'pitch in' snack food so folks who like a treat can be satisfied and especially since later daylight can mean a late supper and this can be just the answer. Our next scheduled dance will be on June 10 at OTP, 5th and Broadway, from 7 to 9:30pm, AND it and the balance of our dances till winter will be 'pitch in' snack food that we share with each other. If you prefer to bring something to drink it is ok as long as it is not alcohol. We have been requested to participate in a Dance Workshop Fundraiser for the Wabash Senior Center in Terre Haute on Saturday , June 11th from 10 am-5 pm, than an evening dance from 7-9 or so. What they want is for us to instruct and help them dance Contra for an hour. They say the workshop will be mainly line dances and partner dances (mostly country). I suspect they would also allow Cajun dancing to be instructed too. The cost is $15 for the workshop which includes the evening dance. Or $5 to attend just the evening dance. Please tell me if you would like to participate, it could be a really fun day!
