We will do some contra there at 2 pm for an hour and then do Cajun dancing to cajun music from 3 to 4. Im excited about showing some of our dancing to a nice group of newcomers and hope that we will see some of them here some time. You are welcome to attend. $15 Buys you workshops and dancing from 10 AM till at least 5 pm, and then evening dancing from 7 to 9. $5 if you are attending the evening dance only. I am looking  forward to it.

We had another disappointing attempt to have a contra dance Friday night and the only ones beside myself to attend were Ruthie and Charlie who drove 100 miles to get here. They also tend to Ruthies house in Linton so it was not a wasted trip but they did drive some distance and hoped to dance.

We don't want our dance to fail and my fiancee from the Philippines is anxious to Contra dance with us when she arrives this summer. Lets don't disappoint her and let's get our numbers back up to where we want them with more numbers of dancers. It is really true with this that 'the more the merrier' is accurate.

Local Flooding PDF Print E-mail

June 10, 2008,  While trying to constantly promote the area sometimes its appropriate to report bad news too. Such is the case with the regional flooding that is occuring as a result of the extremely heavy rains that didn't even fall in our area but north of us in a wide belt across the state west to east. But due to our rivers all draining south and west here it is. We are having record high crests by about 2 feet or so with some levee breaks but fortunately no lives lost or people injured to our knowledge  as several towns have been evacuated (but not Bicknell). It is making it extremely hard on our farmers trying to get crops planted and tended to with an already late planting time and now another delay of weeks to plant or replant flooded fields. Many thanks to our local fire departments as well as the National Guard troops and the local inmate work force and many volunteers who helped evacuate and fill and place sandbags. More on this story in a few days. Ron Ackman
